I took some photos of this painting in process. You can see them below.
This was the first step. I didn't like the overhead view, so I changed it to the image below.
This was something I could work with.
Fiddling with color in the background.
Painted out the background. To get to the finished painting I had to change the crate and the little squash's shape. The background went from dark to light to dark several times. I rarely do preliminary drawings or work out an image in advance. I prefer to figure things out through the process of painting.
